A WEEK FOR TURNBULL GOVERNMENT TO FIX HOME CARE CRISIS

Next week’s Budget must deliver for the 105,000 vulnerable older Australians waiting for care at home.
With just a week to the Budget, the Turnbull Government cannot afford to let down these older Australians languishing in limbo waiting for care.
The number of older Australians waiting for care could now fill the MCG.
Since the first release of data on the waiting list in September 2017, Labor has repeatedly called on the Turnbull Government to fix this crisis.
Recent reports have suggested the Turnbull Government intends to act on this issue and it cannot afford to let older Australians down again. Sadly, for many older Australians this action will be too little too late.
How is it fair that more than 100,000 older Australians wait for care while the Turnbull Government continues to pursue a $65 billion tax handout to the big end of town?
The list includes more than 80,000 older Australians waiting with high needs, many with dementia. This is unacceptable.
Malcolm Turnbull must use the upcoming Budget to deliver genuine new investment in aged care to ensure older Australians are receiving high quality care.
The task of fixing Australia’s aged care system is critically important but sadly the Turnbull Government is not doing enough.
This isn't good enough - older Australians deserve better.
